Prerequisite: Family Dog 1 or private lessons with an SPCA training instructor

Family Dog Level 2 is the next level in training with your dog! Have fun building on the basics learned in Family Dog 1. Practice sits, downs, stays with increased durations and higher distractions, and strengthen the skills needed to prepare your dog to pass the Canine Good Citizen test.  Dogs that are successful in this advanced class are a little more mature, can focus on their handlers, and can work with mild distractions. 

Dogs appropriate for this class should have graduated from our Family Dog Level 1 class within the last 6 months or have approval from the classroom instructor before enrolling.  If you are unsure if your dog has the right qualifications, please call Bonnie at (831) 264-5422.

If your dog is displaying aggressive behaviors, or you are not sure which class is a good fit for you, please call so we might place your dog in the appropriate class or private training.

Please bring proof of vaccinations the first week of class.

Equipment

We recommend at minimum a flat or martingale collar with a 6-foot leash. Sometimes we will suggest the addition of head halters or front hook harnesses, If you need a harness we can sell you one after class. Please no choke or pinch collars, or retractable leashes. We have found that good training with comfortable, non-aversive equipment will enable your dog to perform consistently better!
